Sum...Sum...Summertime, Weeks 6,7 AND 8

Wow!  Am I really that far behind?  The first five weeks of summer seemed so fun and carefree.  We had a wonderful daily routine and every Friday was meticulously planned out to include fun, education and lots and lots of amazing memories. Remember Week 1??

Then.... I had to sell a house.

Have you ever sold a house?

How about a house you have lived in for over 8 years?

Do you know how much stuff you accumulate in 8 years??!!

"Sum...Sum...Summertime"  quickly turned into "Werk Werk Werk Werk Werk"

Thankfully friends and family, and the wonderful volunteers at a local Vacation Bible School helped to provide some fun times for my kiddos in my absence.  And I stepped away from the "werk", every now and again, to participate in the fun myself.

Here goes three weeks in pictures:

First we picked up Landry from a fun week at GiGi and PawPaw's House.  And we went to go visit MawMaw, where she let each of us choose a mini tea-set, from her collection, to keep as our own.  The kids loved looking at all the details of each set and were so excited to choose one for themselves.  However, most of all, we just enjoyed visiting with her and hearing her tell us about each tea set.

Later that evening, the kids tried their hand at lightning bug hunting.  A joy city kids usually never get to experience.  Landry had practice during the week, so she had become quite the pro!

The next day, we went to Shreveport, where I got to meet my adorable new nephew! I could have kissed those sweet cheeks all day long!!

We ended our day at Nana's and Poppy's where the kiddos picked corn, drove the golf cart, rode on Poppy's invention, "The Redneck Sled", and Jet Skied.  All this packed into one day, Nana and Poppy sure know how to show us a good time!

We arrived back home in time to celebrate the Fourth of July.
We met up with our friends at a pool party hosted by our gym, where we met cartoon characters and filled up on free hotdogs, cotton candy and snowballs.  We ended the night with a few sparklers

The next day, I had an extra special date planned for Landry and me.  I found out our local "Painting With a Twist" Studio was doing a class for kids to paint their pets.  Landry adores our dog, and has never know life without him.  I knew it would be so meaningful for her to have the opportunity to paint a portrait of him.  I took advantage of our one-on-one time and took her to breakfast at the most adorable French Bakery, beforehand.

As I mentioned earlier, there was a local VBS, with the most wonderful volunteers.  My kids all had a ball and it freed me up to paint...and paint...and paint...and spend a some time with some of my sweet friends over lunch.

Also, one of our favorite days of the year, Cow Appreciation Day, made for a nice treat in the middle of the week.

And we did manage to continue our "Where's Waldo" festivities, where Landry and her bestie cooked us up an authentic French meal.  The menu included Tomato Basil Soup (La Madeline's Style), Cheese Puffs, and Macarons with lemon filling.  Parfait!

My crazy boys, skipped the soup and chose PB&J instead.  Their loss!

My Mom also came to stay with us, the weekend after her birthday, so we threw her a "double nickels" birthday party, since she turned 55.  We even made her a special Keto dessert.

After, my kids discovered a new love for making paper airplanes after watching the movie "Paper Planes"

And this one is always finding ways to build new things.  Here, he is showing me his sword, shield, and bow and arrow :)

Cory had a few days home, and while we spent most of the time doing home improvement projects, we did sneak away to get some of the best donuts in town

A few days later, I met up with the grandparents to handover all the kiddos.  This time the boys got to spend a few days at GiGi's and PawPaw's, while Landry got to spend some time at Nana's and Poppy's.  This enabled me to prepare our house for our first Open House. Everything was a success, and we are hearing from more and more people interested in our home.

Finally, after meeting back up with the kids, we got the chance to get away for a bit, to a Beach near Galveston.  My parents rented a condo and invited us to go along.

It.
Was.
Glorious.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

Finally, we ended the week by picking up Cory from the airport in Houston and traveling back home together, but not before stopping at Krispy Kreme to pick up a hot dozen donuts (I'm sensing a trend here. LOL)

After a full day of travel, we finally made it to our home, safely and soundly, thankful for the weeks ahead. <3

Till Next Time!

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 3

If it's possible, week 3 went even faster than week 2.  That's because it was  CAMP WEEEEEEEK!!!! Y'all, I love everything about camp week.  Cory was a youth pastor for years, and I always joked that being a youth pastor's wife was a good excuse for me to go to camp even as a "grown up"  Admittedly, kids' camp requires a bit more energy and responsibility than youth camp.  But I am always up for a good challenge!  Having the opportunity to attend the camp with my own daughter is icing on the cake! The week did not disappoint!  Relationships were formed, hearts were opened and God moved in incredible ways.  He always does.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the week.  While Landry and I were "roughing it" at camp, the boys were "living it up" at Nana and Poppy's.   Jet Skis and Tigers and Excavators, Oh My!! Thank you, Nana And Poppy, for t...

New Year, New Blog

I love the start of a new year!  There is nothing magical about the year changing from 2017 to 2018, but it always feels like we are embarking on something bigger and better than the year before.  My blogging, last year, sort of reflected my disposition....a little weak and weary.  Not to sound melodramatic or anything, it's just that 2017 was tough.  Tougher than any other year I can remember in the thirty-five I've had.  However, as my family and I sat around the kitchen table, looking at pictures and talking about our most memorable moments of 2017, I could see God's fingerprints everywhere!!  He never fails us!  And I have a feeling the things He taught us last year, will be what makes this year one of the best ones yet! Speaking of memorable moments, here are ours from 2017: We started the year with a bang, Daddy was in the hospital on day ONE and stayed for FOUR more days...  We got home just in time to have a birthday party for La...

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 5

When I look back over the week, I realize how thankful I am for people who pick up my slack when life gets a little hectic.  Let's face it, we all need a little help sometime and we have to be willing to ask for it or accept it when it is offered.  As we are in the process of prepping a house to sell, we'll take all the help we can get! The help all started when I had to pick up Cory from the airport late Saturday night.  My mom helped by staying with the kids so I didn't have to get them out so late.  She also helped by coming to church with me on Sunday, so Cory could order us a new working dryer.  The fact that we were "twinning" was an added bonus ;) Next, my sweet friend, Nicole, helped by letting our E-man play at her house for the afternoon.  Later that evening we picked him up and joined our family group for some fun at the splash park. On Monday, my mom headed home, but she helped out by taking Landry to stay with her for ...
