New Year, New Blog

I love the start of a new year!  There is nothing magical about the year changing from 2017 to 2018, but it always feels like we are embarking on something bigger and better than the year before.  My blogging, last year, sort of reflected my disposition....a little weak and weary.  Not to sound melodramatic or anything, it's just that 2017 was tough.  Tougher than any other year I can remember in the thirty-five I've had.  However, as my family and I sat around the kitchen table, looking at pictures and talking about our most memorable moments of 2017, I could see God's fingerprints everywhere!!  He never fails us!  And I have a feeling the things He taught us last year, will be what makes this year one of the best ones yet!

Speaking of memorable moments, here are ours from 2017:

We started the year with a bang, Daddy was in the hospital on day ONE and stayed for FOUR more days...
We got home just in time to have a birthday party for Lan that was super SWEET...
Gigi and cousins came to spend Mardi Gras with us....
Eli and Cooper took their first try at ice skating and rocked it..
and we celebrated Eli's seventh birthday by bowling with some buds...
Landry and I went on a swap tour...
 We picked strawberries...
 ate crawfish...
threw rocks into Lake Pontchartrain....
and played in the sand....
celebrated Easter with family and friends...
spent spring break with some of our faves...
 held baby chicks and ducks...
were blessed by residents of a local nursing home...
Eli got a five night stay at the hospital, and GiGi and PawPaw and Nana and Poppy spent Mother's Day with us there...
we climbed trees at the Lakefront....
and Landry went to kids camp....
Lan and E had a first and very successful year of swim team...

we made our own "drive in theater" during the wet hurricane season...
and the kids took their first Ferry Ride...
 we went to Nasa....
Galveston Beach....
and to watch the Houston Astros (who happened to win the World Series this year!)
Landry and Cory built a lemonade stand out of our old fence, and she earned enough money to buy the mermaid tail she had always wanted.
Our kids had a temporary pool in the front yard....
and a heck of a visqueen slip-n-slide that provided hours of entertainment...
Landry started 4th grade...
Eli started 2nd Grade...
 And Coopy started PreK...
Then there was the bike hike...
the fair...
and Cooper finally got his Tom and Jerry Birthday Party...
What a memorable moment when Landry scored the final point for her volleyball team to win the championship...
Tent camping in 38 degree weather is something we'll never forget...
nor will "Camp or Treating" with our best friends...
We got to camp again with family, in a cabin this time...
and cooked an impromptu Thanksgiving meal for just the five of us..
seeing Santa is always a treat...
and Christmas in the Oaks was really neat...
but the beignet fest, now that was sweet (see what I did there)...
Santa came early just in case...
but Daddy got to stay until the REAL Christmas morn...
Wearing PJs to the movies was lots of fun...
and man you should have seen Eli's rocket run...
we rolled down hills with Mason and Poppy...
and fought crime or at least looked the part.

See what I mean??  Blessings abound! What a Year!!
Bring on 2018!!!

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 3

If it's possible, week 3 went even faster than week 2.  That's because it was  CAMP WEEEEEEEK!!!! Y'all, I love everything about camp week.  Cory was a youth pastor for years, and I always joked that being a youth pastor's wife was a good excuse for me to go to camp even as a "grown up"  Admittedly, kids' camp requires a bit more energy and responsibility than youth camp.  But I am always up for a good challenge!  Having the opportunity to attend the camp with my own daughter is icing on the cake! The week did not disappoint!  Relationships were formed, hearts were opened and God moved in incredible ways.  He always does.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the week.  While Landry and I were "roughing it" at camp, the boys were "living it up" at Nana and Poppy's.   Jet Skis and Tigers and Excavators, Oh My!! Thank you, Nana And Poppy, for t...

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 5

When I look back over the week, I realize how thankful I am for people who pick up my slack when life gets a little hectic.  Let's face it, we all need a little help sometime and we have to be willing to ask for it or accept it when it is offered.  As we are in the process of prepping a house to sell, we'll take all the help we can get! The help all started when I had to pick up Cory from the airport late Saturday night.  My mom helped by staying with the kids so I didn't have to get them out so late.  She also helped by coming to church with me on Sunday, so Cory could order us a new working dryer.  The fact that we were "twinning" was an added bonus ;) Next, my sweet friend, Nicole, helped by letting our E-man play at her house for the afternoon.  Later that evening we picked him up and joined our family group for some fun at the splash park. On Monday, my mom headed home, but she helped out by taking Landry to stay with her for ...
