My Biggest Little Wonder

My biggest little wonder is not so little anymore.  She made the shift to double digits three weeks ago.  I'm still trying to figure out how ten years passed by so fast.  I only pray that the next ten will tarry a little longer, although I've heard they go even more quickly.

We love birthdays around here.  We love making our kids feel celebrated on their special day.  Of course, Landry's tenth was no exception.  And she was doubly blessed because her Daddy was here to make it even more special.

We started by leaving balloons all over her bedroom floor and streamers on her door.  I also decorated  her mirrors.
I printed out this precious little sign I found on Pinterest, pictures from her birth and every birthday she has had since, and wrote her a letter expressing 10 things we love about her.
Our first stop, every birthday, is Donut King, where they let you fill up a bag of birthday donuts. So generous of them, and something the kids look forward to every year!

Landry's a fruity girl, so she is all about the fruit-filled donuts.  She was also nice enough to get some that she knew her brothers would enjoy.

We decided to let her play "hooky" from school so we could spend some individual time with her.  First off, Landry has been wanting a real pedicure for a while now, so her 10th birthday seemed like the perfect time!  Cory treated us both!
Next, Landry chose La Madeline for her birthday lunch.
We shopped at Forever 21 for some hip new "pre-teen clothes". Then stopped at Barnes and Noble for a little treat.
We finished off our day with dinner and facials at home.
A perfect day for a 10-year-old girl!

We also got to celebrate with some of our family while we were visiting for Christmas.  Aunt Christian had given the kids Super Hero costumes for Christmas, so we thought a Super Hero Celebration was perfect for this little Wonder....Woman!!
As I mentioned before, she loves all things fruity, so I made her a White Chocolate Raspberry Cake, which was delectable!

The kids even put on a Super Hero Play, complete with a home-made villain, the Joker!

It was a super good time!

In addition, we are really looking forward to a birthday get-away with our besties, in a couple of weeks! I mean, why not celebrate the whole month?!

Happy Birthday to our Biggest Little Wonder, Landry Kate!

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 3

If it's possible, week 3 went even faster than week 2.  That's because it was  CAMP WEEEEEEEK!!!! Y'all, I love everything about camp week.  Cory was a youth pastor for years, and I always joked that being a youth pastor's wife was a good excuse for me to go to camp even as a "grown up"  Admittedly, kids' camp requires a bit more energy and responsibility than youth camp.  But I am always up for a good challenge!  Having the opportunity to attend the camp with my own daughter is icing on the cake! The week did not disappoint!  Relationships were formed, hearts were opened and God moved in incredible ways.  He always does.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the week.  While Landry and I were "roughing it" at camp, the boys were "living it up" at Nana and Poppy's.   Jet Skis and Tigers and Excavators, Oh My!! Thank you, Nana And Poppy, for t...

New Year, New Blog

I love the start of a new year!  There is nothing magical about the year changing from 2017 to 2018, but it always feels like we are embarking on something bigger and better than the year before.  My blogging, last year, sort of reflected my disposition....a little weak and weary.  Not to sound melodramatic or anything, it's just that 2017 was tough.  Tougher than any other year I can remember in the thirty-five I've had.  However, as my family and I sat around the kitchen table, looking at pictures and talking about our most memorable moments of 2017, I could see God's fingerprints everywhere!!  He never fails us!  And I have a feeling the things He taught us last year, will be what makes this year one of the best ones yet! Speaking of memorable moments, here are ours from 2017: We started the year with a bang, Daddy was in the hospital on day ONE and stayed for FOUR more days...  We got home just in time to have a birthday party for La...

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 5

When I look back over the week, I realize how thankful I am for people who pick up my slack when life gets a little hectic.  Let's face it, we all need a little help sometime and we have to be willing to ask for it or accept it when it is offered.  As we are in the process of prepping a house to sell, we'll take all the help we can get! The help all started when I had to pick up Cory from the airport late Saturday night.  My mom helped by staying with the kids so I didn't have to get them out so late.  She also helped by coming to church with me on Sunday, so Cory could order us a new working dryer.  The fact that we were "twinning" was an added bonus ;) Next, my sweet friend, Nicole, helped by letting our E-man play at her house for the afternoon.  Later that evening we picked him up and joined our family group for some fun at the splash park. On Monday, my mom headed home, but she helped out by taking Landry to stay with her for ...
