Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 2

If you missed week one, or the "prequel" you can find them here and here. It's been quite the summer already, and it seems to be FLYING by!!!

Week 2, was all about VBS, swim lessons, and ear infections.  Yes, you read that right.  No matter how well I plan things out, sometimes life throws us a curve ball.

We started the week out with our church family, like usual.  And usually at least one kid ends up coming home with us.  This time, it was a sweet little girl who adores and looks up to Landry.  So, naturally they put their swimsuits and goggles on, and filled the bathtub to the brim with bubbles!  They also, stayed up WAY too late, in my bed, watching Barbie Dreamhouse.

For breakfast, I gave them a smorgasbord of breakfast items, and told them to make their own creations.  They needed energy, because Monday was the first day of VBS!!!

 (Eli's straight face)
Our kids attended a Vacation Bible School at a Local Church.  The theme was "Game On" and these boys brought their GAME FACES!!  We are so thankful for the volunteers who invested their time for our kids!
We also had a couple of friends come over after VBS, on Monday.  The girls made Lemon Poppyseed scones and set the table, and we all enjoyed Tea Time together. :)

So, the plan was for the big kids to go to VBS all week, and for Cooper to take swim lessons while they were there.  However, Landry woke up with fever on Tuesday and ended up with a terrible ear infection, resulting in a ruptured eardrum. NOT exactly how you would wish to start your summer, but she was a real trooper and stuck with Cooper and me for the rest of the week. We knew we had to get her well before leaving for camp, the following Monday!

Cooper finished "Swim School" on Saturday, where he went from being terrified of putting his face in the water, to this:

As you can see, he still never got enough courage to jump in, but I think by the end of the summer he'll have it mastered!!

On Thursday, Eli played a heck of a baseball game, where he got some great hits and was awarded the GAME BALL!!!!

And of course, we can't forget Friday Fun Day!!! This week, I made the kids go on a hunt to find puzzle pieces:

"W" is also for: Where's Waldo
But you'll have to check back next week to find out about that! ;)

So long, Week 2!

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 3

If it's possible, week 3 went even faster than week 2.  That's because it was  CAMP WEEEEEEEK!!!! Y'all, I love everything about camp week.  Cory was a youth pastor for years, and I always joked that being a youth pastor's wife was a good excuse for me to go to camp even as a "grown up"  Admittedly, kids' camp requires a bit more energy and responsibility than youth camp.  But I am always up for a good challenge!  Having the opportunity to attend the camp with my own daughter is icing on the cake! The week did not disappoint!  Relationships were formed, hearts were opened and God moved in incredible ways.  He always does.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the week.  While Landry and I were "roughing it" at camp, the boys were "living it up" at Nana and Poppy's.   Jet Skis and Tigers and Excavators, Oh My!! Thank you, Nana And Poppy, for t...

New Year, New Blog

I love the start of a new year!  There is nothing magical about the year changing from 2017 to 2018, but it always feels like we are embarking on something bigger and better than the year before.  My blogging, last year, sort of reflected my disposition....a little weak and weary.  Not to sound melodramatic or anything, it's just that 2017 was tough.  Tougher than any other year I can remember in the thirty-five I've had.  However, as my family and I sat around the kitchen table, looking at pictures and talking about our most memorable moments of 2017, I could see God's fingerprints everywhere!!  He never fails us!  And I have a feeling the things He taught us last year, will be what makes this year one of the best ones yet! Speaking of memorable moments, here are ours from 2017: We started the year with a bang, Daddy was in the hospital on day ONE and stayed for FOUR more days...  We got home just in time to have a birthday party for La...

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 5

When I look back over the week, I realize how thankful I am for people who pick up my slack when life gets a little hectic.  Let's face it, we all need a little help sometime and we have to be willing to ask for it or accept it when it is offered.  As we are in the process of prepping a house to sell, we'll take all the help we can get! The help all started when I had to pick up Cory from the airport late Saturday night.  My mom helped by staying with the kids so I didn't have to get them out so late.  She also helped by coming to church with me on Sunday, so Cory could order us a new working dryer.  The fact that we were "twinning" was an added bonus ;) Next, my sweet friend, Nicole, helped by letting our E-man play at her house for the afternoon.  Later that evening we picked him up and joined our family group for some fun at the splash park. On Monday, my mom headed home, but she helped out by taking Landry to stay with her for ...
