Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 4

This week started off SUPER as we celebrated our SUPER Dad!!!
Their favorite part of Father's Day is jumping on Dad to wake him up!

Then they showered him with cards and gifts...

 ...including a funny madlibs...

 ....and a SUPER Mario shirt!
Next, we took him to church, where we had a Father's Day breakfast honoring all the SUPER Dads!!

Unfortunately, Cory had to leave for work right after church.  But that's what SUPER Dads do.  They provide for their families, and we are so thankful!

The kids and I spent the rest of our day at the pool, where this kid blew me away!!!
Remember how I'd hoped he would be brave enough to jump off the side by the end of the summer??!!

And really proud of this guy for doing so great at his first day of TriKids.  (My kids are way better swimmers than me!)

Tuesday, Eli played his first playoff game for baseball and won!  They were also awarded trophies for placing 2nd in the regular season.

Tuesday Night, I was awakened by the sound that makes every mother's toes curl....worse than fingernails on a chalkboard....the sound of a child puking.

NO!!!!!!!!

Poor Coopy! Our home was now infested with a nasty stomach bug. Ugh.
I was bummed because I knew that meant we would be having to stay in for a few days, healing and disinfecting.  However, staying home allowed me to get necessary things done around our house to prep it for sale. Always look for the silver lining (even if it's covered in puke), right?!

We did manage to do our Where's Waldo meal. And this week, it was Eli's turn to help!

Waldo had landed in Mongolia, so we researched and found out that sheep head (eyes and all) is a delicacy there!  While that sounds oh so appealing (bleh!), we decided to stick with good ole Mongolian Beef!
We used some ingredients we don't typically use, like ginger.

And Eli was not too fond of the smell of soy sauce

But it turned out delicious and everyone LOVED it! I even tried to make chopsticks, though they were ginormous!

We added a Mongolia stamp to their mock passports...

...and had fun using google translate to attempt some Mongolian words.
Finally, it was Landry's turn to spin the globe to see where Waldo would land next.

He just "happened" to land in France.  How convenient. LOL

On Thursday evening, Eli's team won his second playoff game, which meant they would be playing for the championship on Saturday!
By Friday morning, no one else had caught the stomach bug, so I thought we were safe to proceed with the activities I planned for Friday Fun Day!

We started out with an egg hunt to reveal our theme...

THE PLAN:
Eat Dinner at Sal and Mookies (A fun pizza and Ice Cream restaurant I had been dying to take them to)

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
We visited the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies.  Eli was out of it the entire time, complaining that he was tired and not wanting to eat a thing.  We decided it best to come straight home afterwards, where we ordered Pizza instead. I made Mississippi mud bars. We watched Moana. And we worked together on a Mario puzzle.  Eli seemed to be feeling much better after a little while.  But just as we were about to head to bed, I heard that toe curling sound again.  Landry this time....

Thankfully it was short-lived and GiGi was there to help keep us sane.

Here are pictures and videos from our day:

We rested up as best we could because we couldn't miss Eli's Championship game, the next morning.

Everyone was able to muster up enough energy to put on our favorite Astros gear and cheer on our little buddy.

It paid off because
THEY WON!!!!

They were able to replace their second place trophies with first place trophies!  We celebrated with ice cream and snowballs.

And to round out our week, Cory came home late on Saturday!  A perfect ending to a little less than perfect week!  :)

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 3

If it's possible, week 3 went even faster than week 2.  That's because it was  CAMP WEEEEEEEK!!!! Y'all, I love everything about camp week.  Cory was a youth pastor for years, and I always joked that being a youth pastor's wife was a good excuse for me to go to camp even as a "grown up"  Admittedly, kids' camp requires a bit more energy and responsibility than youth camp.  But I am always up for a good challenge!  Having the opportunity to attend the camp with my own daughter is icing on the cake! The week did not disappoint!  Relationships were formed, hearts were opened and God moved in incredible ways.  He always does.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the week.  While Landry and I were "roughing it" at camp, the boys were "living it up" at Nana and Poppy's.   Jet Skis and Tigers and Excavators, Oh My!! Thank you, Nana And Poppy, for t...

New Year, New Blog

I love the start of a new year!  There is nothing magical about the year changing from 2017 to 2018, but it always feels like we are embarking on something bigger and better than the year before.  My blogging, last year, sort of reflected my disposition....a little weak and weary.  Not to sound melodramatic or anything, it's just that 2017 was tough.  Tougher than any other year I can remember in the thirty-five I've had.  However, as my family and I sat around the kitchen table, looking at pictures and talking about our most memorable moments of 2017, I could see God's fingerprints everywhere!!  He never fails us!  And I have a feeling the things He taught us last year, will be what makes this year one of the best ones yet! Speaking of memorable moments, here are ours from 2017: We started the year with a bang, Daddy was in the hospital on day ONE and stayed for FOUR more days...  We got home just in time to have a birthday party for La...

Sum...Sum...Summertime, Week 5

When I look back over the week, I realize how thankful I am for people who pick up my slack when life gets a little hectic.  Let's face it, we all need a little help sometime and we have to be willing to ask for it or accept it when it is offered.  As we are in the process of prepping a house to sell, we'll take all the help we can get! The help all started when I had to pick up Cory from the airport late Saturday night.  My mom helped by staying with the kids so I didn't have to get them out so late.  She also helped by coming to church with me on Sunday, so Cory could order us a new working dryer.  The fact that we were "twinning" was an added bonus ;) Next, my sweet friend, Nicole, helped by letting our E-man play at her house for the afternoon.  Later that evening we picked him up and joined our family group for some fun at the splash park. On Monday, my mom headed home, but she helped out by taking Landry to stay with her for ...
